Overview: Dr Lee Partridge, Higher Education lecturer, will provide an overview of some of the different approaches to teaching that can improve and enrich the student learning experience. Included in this session are presentations from two award winning lecturers: Dr Andrzej Gwizdalski will present on the successful use of blogs as an assessment tool in education. Dr Gwizdalski won an Improving Student Learning Competitive grant in 2015 for his project on blogs and will demonstrate how blogging in the classroom can have great benefits for students and teachers. Dr Frank Liu will present on the use of socrative in large classes, an online tool to engage and assess students as learning happens. Through the use of real-time questioning, result aggregation, and visualization, it provides an instant insight into levels of understanding to allow better use of class time to collaborate and grow as a community of learners.
