It’s easy to meander through your busy life without giving much attention to health and wellness. This is especially true when you “feel” fine. But as soon as you experience health issues – whether of the acute or chronic variety – health no longer becomes something you take for granted.

As an entrepreneur, you don’t have a ton of time for new exercise regimens or diets, but what if there are simple, yet practical ways you can make healthy lifestyle choices without making time-consuming commitments?

How to Make Health a Priority in Your Life

Conferences, retreats, meetings, sales calls, email, and networking can leave you feeling like every second of your day is consumed with work. But no matter how busy you are, you can integrate the following into your daily schedule:

  1. Healthy Meals

The “fast” nature of fast food has trained many entrepreneurs to turn towards convenience over nutrition. Unfortunately, scarfing down constant burgers, fries, and highly-processed foods is terrible for your mind and body. When consumed regularly, fast food is connected with headaches, depression, acne, dental distress, heart disease, shortness of breath, high cholesterol, weight gain, high blood pressure, spikes in blood sugar, weight gain, insulin resistance, and bloating.

Thankfully, it doesn’t take much effort to eat healthier. In just one afternoon– Sunday, perhaps – you can prep an entire week of meals and portion them out for work-ready lunches. Give it a few days and you’ll already begin to feel better.

  1. Targeted Supplements

The body needs a whole host of nutrients to stay healthy and operate at peak performance levels. And while switching to a healthier diet will help you get many of the nutrients you need, most modern diets are still lacking in key areas.

One of the quickest ways to ensure your body is getting the right nutrients is to incorporate a few targeted supplements into your daily routine. For a few seconds of your time, it’s one of the highest returning habits you can adopt.

  1. Quick, High-Intensity Exercise

Don’t have enough time for a full-fledged workout at the local gym? Well, there are plenty of alternatives to those long exercise routines all of your friends rave about. In fact, you can get all of the daily fitness you need in a 30-minute workout.

The key to a quick, yet effective workout is to go high-intensity. And truth be told, you don’t even need a gym. This HIIT routine targets your entire body using nothing more than your own body weight. Complete it in the morning before you go to work, or even in your office at lunchtime.

  1. “Me” Time

As an entrepreneur, there are lots of people depending on you. From employees to customers, it can feel as if people are constantly tugging on you and zapping energy from the little you have left. What you need is a little bit of “me” time every single day.

Even if it’s just 10 minutes in the morning or afternoon, carve out a brief period of time to shut your office door, turn off your devices, and spend time meditating, relaxing, or doing something for yourself. It’s a small investment that can produce considerable returns for both your mental and physical health.

  1. Unplug and Unwind

Going straight to bed after a long day of work might seem like the best option, but some personal time away from work will serve you well. Spend at least an hour of time at the end of the day doing something relaxing. Ideally, it shouldn’t involve a screen. Reading, crafting, taking your dog for a walk…all of these things are good for your work-life balance.

You Don’t Get a Free Pass

Being a busy entrepreneur with a lot on your plate doesn’t mean you get a free pass on health and wellness. Everyone is busy and while it may seem like you have less time than most, the opportunities for healthy habits and decisions are all around you.

Make healthy lifestyle choices part of your everyday routines. When they become a part of your regular schedule, you’ll view them less as burdens and more as priorities. Don’t wait any longer – start today!
